Care & Longevity
Hardwood is a lifelong investment. Whether it's premium European Oak or classic Red Oak, beauty is preserved through proactive maintenance tailored to the Bay Area climate.
Maintenance Protocol
Routine cleaning prevents the buildup of abrasives that dull your floor’s finish. In the unique microclimates of San Francisco and Marin, consistency is key.
Microfiber dust mop to remove grit. Blot spills immediately—standing water is the enemy of wood.
Vacuum with felt-brush head only. Ensure beater bars are turned off to prevent surface micro-scratches.
The Golden Rules
Excess water causes swelling and cupping. Maintain a "dry" approach.
Oil soaps leave cloudy residues on modern UV-cured finishes.
Apply pH-neutral cleaner (Bona) to the mop, never directly to the wood.
Keep humidity between 30%–50% to minimize expansion/contraction.
Environmental Protection
- Felt Padding: Heavy-duty protectors on all furniture legs are mandatory.
- Breathable Mats: Use natural fiber entryway mats. Avoid rubber backing that traps moisture.
- UV Management: Use window coverings to prevent "sun bleaching" and uneven aging.
- Pet & Footwear: Keep nails trimmed. Avoid high heels with worn taps or sports cleats.
